Songs From & For the
Heart
This page is long over due!
Sing-Along is a regular part of our family tradition. It is
among some of the most fun times we have had, when our family and friends get
together. However, too often, because we did not have the lyrics of the songs,
we ended up singing a verse here and there and then quit. The end result
was, we
have not maximized the opportunity to recapture and re-savour past pleasant
memories (I am sure you have noticed how "Old Familiar Songs" have the power to help
you recall exact events in your life, that were buried deep in your subconscious
mind) . We also failed to enjoy the company of others of like passion
and even instilled some of of these values and share the memories with our
children.
I have found that a sing-along often has the very
opposite effects of that of TV on Family Communications.. When we watch TV, we stifle communication.
We want people to be quiet, and not disturb us (sounds familiar?). With a
sing-along, I have found that it facilitates and increases communication. We
want others to join in. The more passionately they do, the better results
it yield.
This page is intended to collect and share favourite songs
that can be used for many occasions. You will have the opportunity to
download a Song Book and an Index (Both are work in in progress). You will also have
the
opportunity to give suggestions to add to the repertoire. I cannot assure you
that all the suggestions will make the "cut". If you are a regular part of
our sing-alongs, it stands a good chance of being included. If you are not, may
I suggest that you add to what we have and compile your song book.
The process is simple of submitting a song is simple:
If you like a particular song and it is not in the Index, check if you can find
its lyrics in one of
the links below (or another link). Cut and paste it in the Form below and
e-mail it to me. If you have it in book, you can type it and send it as an
attachment. The last resort is to FAX it to me. This means that I
will have to type it. This delays the process and makes it more laborious
for me. This is a labour of love. But if we share in it the
project will be completed quicker.
If you cannot find the lyrics, and feels that I definitely need to
include it in the Song Book,
send me the information and I will try to find it. If in your search, you find an excellent link for lyrics and/or Guitar Cords,
I will be delighted to check it out.
Submitting a Song:
Type the Name of the Song and any
Additional Information, such
as Artist, etc. Find the lyrics below, by searching the links or
elsewhere. When you have located it, cut and paste it in the text window. Click
"Submit"
to forward it as an e-mail to me. If you do not find the lyrics and you have it
elsewhere, please type and then forward it.
