Here are five questions that all successful people have always been able to
answer to some extent.
1. Who am I?
2. Where did
I come from?
3. Why am I
here?
4. Where am I
going?
5. How do I
get there?
Let me challenge you to spend some time to think through and write your answers
to these questions. The exercise will make a tremendous impact on your
life.
The best example, I know, of a person who valued these questions, is Jesus Christ.
He thought knowing the answers to these questions was indispensable to living a satisfying and successful
life - a full and fulfilled life.
We need to live authentically, not
perfectly. The only way to do this is to live with integrity. Integrity
is to say what you will do and do what you have said you will do. The words of a
person of integrity are his/her bond. We all need a compass and a
roadmap. The answers to these questions will give you both.
Read about Jesus and His answer to these questions in John
13:1-17 (especially verse 1). Because He could have answered these
questions, He was able to wash the feet of others without reservations.
With this orientation, He
was able to always have the attitude of not having to protect turf or
positions and prove anything to anyone. He
was able to face anything including, betrayal, denial, humiliation, finally the
most excruciating death.
This is the whole idea of KENOSIS
