Counselling differ from coaching
in that while coaching focuses on developmental and performance issues that may
be corrected by skills development or knowledge acquisition, counselling focuses
on changed behavior. It helps a person to examine conditions, attitude,
feelings, perceptions and patterns of behavior that is hindering effectiveness.
While coaching is developmental, counselling may be seen to be preventive or
corrective in nature.
Counselling is often used as a
synonym of therapy. Many it is the approach that is utilized to address some
sort of dysfunctionality.
